Hello, I'm Dae, and I build games and data projects.
I work as a business analyst in London, and most of my spare time goes into Memora, a mobile rhythm game I've been making in Unity and C# since late 2024, along with the charting editor I built inside Unity to create its levels. Alongside it I've written and released two small Windows utilities in .NET, and I use Python and SQL for data projects, the largest of which is a pipeline that loads every house sale in England into PostgreSQL to measure how affordable homes are in each council.
Memora
Memora is a mobile rhythm game I've been making since late 2024, and I handle the programming, art, music direction and storyboarding myself. The lines you play on move and spin with the music and can even freeze or run backwards, notes can fly at one another or at points that are still moving, and a visual-novel story about memories and photography runs alongside the songs. I also built the charting editor inside Unity that I use to make every level.
In the write-up I go through how the game keeps in time with the music, how its four kinds of note are judged, how a note can aim at something that is still moving, and how a whole field of notes can freeze or rewind mid-song. It also covers the charting tools, including a motion library built by analysing several hundred published charts, the storyboard pipeline behind the story mode, and how I tracked down a slowdown in the editor that took each repaint from around 120 ms to 15 ms.
Other things I've made
I started programming in my A-level Computer Science class, and at Imperial, where I studied chemistry, the computational side of the course was the part I got the most out of. In the summer of 2022 I spent three months at the University of Cambridge writing Python research code that generates polymer structures and relaxes them with a force field. Each project on this site has a write-up that explains the problem it had to solve and the decisions I made while building it.
